Artjunkie Stops HM from selling copies of there iconic Grafitti Love T shirt

February 17, 2009

Tony Knight and Founder of the Iconic clothing brand Artjunkie has stop H.M. Retail from selling replica tops which show case their Iconic Grafitti Love design.

Tim Hazeldean who is Head of UK Operations for  H.M Retail UK was served with court papers (N1 claim form) after Tony Knight spotted his creation in one of H.M stores whilst out in Manchester.

Tony Knight quickly reprimanded the manager and ask them to remove the

item from sale.  The Manchester Store did remove the items from sale.

How ever Tim Hazeldean was very quick to point out that H.M.bought the design from suppliers over in china but admitted they did not do enough checks with their chinese suppliers to see if the design was trademarked or copyrighted to which he apologised on behalf of H.M. Retail.

Since being served with court papers  H.M Retail have agreed to destroy the remining stock and have apologised to Tony Knight.

Tony Knight thanked H.M Retail UK for removing the stock and came to a Settlement in regards to compensation.

Tony stated that big companies like H&M, Vivienne Westwood, Primark, Topman think they can steal small designers designs so they can try and claim them as there own and its very hard for a independent designer to take on the mighty companies as they can't afford expensive legal Teams but all i can advise to small designers when you create a design make sure you copyright your design as this will be the key when matters go to court and dont be affraid of this big companies
